Acacia Concert at the Opera House 2017 !

Once again our Senior Orchestra students had the opportunity to perform at the Sydney Opera House at the Acacia Concert.

It was such an exciting day and night. The children sounded AMAZING ! 

Thank you so much Sarah for all the work put in to preparing the students and for taking care of them all yesterday and taking them out to dinner. A brilliant time had by all.

Music Camp 2017

Music Camp at Vision Valley 6 and 7 March 2017

Music Camp is on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 March 2017 for all orchestra and band members in Years 3-6. Junior Strings are invited for the day on Monday 6 March. Notes have been emailed and sent home.

The venue is Vision Valley in Arcadia / Galston.

Please return notes and money to the school office by Friday 24 February 2017.

Congratulations Sarah!

We are pleased to announced that our wonderful conductor, Sarah Wijngaarden, has been awarded the  Performing Arts Teacher Recognition Award by the New South Wales Department of Education Arts Unit.  She is one of three teachers in New South Wales to be honoured this year. Our warmest congratulations to Sarah.

The award was announced at the Festival of Instrumental Music, the annual celebration of music achievement at the Opera House.

Sarah helped to set up our orchestra here at West Ryde nearly 5 years ago, and has worked tirelessly on many music events with the students.  She also runs orchestras at Meadowbank Public School and Cumberland High School.

Music Camp

Music Camp - Monday 8 August 2016!

Music Camp is for all students from Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Beginner Band and Junior Strings, and will be a fun day for budding musicians to play together and participate in musical activities.

What a great night ! It was truly lovely to see so many children (and some adults...) performing in different groups. Harpist Karen Hickmott really engaged the audience with some beautiful harp music and some favourites. Congratulations to all the children and everyone involved - GO West Ryde !!!

Opera House - Festival of Instrumental Music

Congratulations to all the Orchestra and Recorder students who performed at the Opera House tonight. The concert was incredible ! The students have worked really hard on some challenging pieces this year and we are very proud of them all.

Thank you so much Sarah Wijngaarden for all the hard work and thank you Sarah and Ms Natalie Devlin for taking good care of our kids over a long day and night...

Music Camp 2015 !

Music Camp 2015 was even bigger and better than last year ! The children all worked incredibly hard all day and enjoyed meeting and working with our friends from Meadowbank. After lunch we had an amazing Japanese drumming performance by Taikoz and some of our talented kids got to join in !

The end of camp concert was a triumph ! Thank you to the teachers and tutors for all of their hard work on the day. And thank you and congratulations to the children for their hard work and dedication. Staff at Naamaroo and members of Taikoz all commented on how well behaved and engaged our kids were.
